I thought it would be fitting to talk about finding your personal style as lately I’ve been having a moment with shopping for a few wardrobe essentials. I love finding pieces that I know I’ll wear over and over again. I’ve always been more of a beauty girl and have only recently been inspired to mix things up in the style department. Lately, I’ve been feeling the need for a serious wardrobe refresh. Anything I haven’t worn in the past couple of months is going to charity or family members. I’m working to revamp my wardrobe so that every piece of clothing brings me some sort of joy. Yes, that is a nod to the book “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up”;) And while we’re on the subject, I’ve been hearing great things about the book, “The Curated Closet”. I think I might give it a read. Let me know what you think if you’ve read it?
For awhile I felt overwhelmed with the idea of keeping up with my personal style and trends. I thought it was crazy that people would spend a ton of money on items that will go out of style with time. What I didn’t really consider until now is that it’s perfectly fine to buy pieces that are in trend as long as they fit with your personal style. As long as you adore the top, bag or skirt, it will never really go out of style for you regardless of how long it remains trendy.
I don’t have an unlimited budget to spend on my shopping habits. And I’m sure many of you are in a similar position. For this reason, I’ve adopted a method that has been working really well for me. I only splurge on the items that are 100% worth it and that I know I will get a ton of wear out of. I’ll likely spend more money on bags (because they last for ages) and shoes (because if your feet are in pain, that’s not fun for anyone). A few places I love to shop for pieces I adore that also don’t break the bank are Topshop, Zara, & Other Stories, H&M and ASOS to name a few.
When it comes to my personal style, I definitely prefer to keep things fairly minimal with neutral colors. My favorite colors to wear are black, navy, gray, nude and white. However, I like to add pops of color to my outfit with my bag, shoes or accessories. How would you describe your personal style?
