Red, White & Gingham

The weather is starting to gradually warm up over here and I couldn’t be more excited about it. It’s always nice to see everyone coming out of winter hibernation mode. Spring is a chance to start fresh similar in a way to the new year and I love that feeling.

Gingham is a massive trend this spring/summer. I’m sure you’ve seen it just about everywhere from blogs and Instagram to ads and magazines. I’m not one to hop on a trend just because it’s cool at the moment, but I must say that I do really like gingham. It reminds me of childhood picnics, summer and being young and carefree. I saw gingham paired with red lipstick and red accessories on a couple of different Instagram photos from various fashion bloggers. And for whatever reason, I just really like the way the color red and gingham look together.

In a previous post called Finding Your Personal Style, I mentioned that I typically tend to gravitate toward wearing neutral tones with pops of color. And one of my favorite colors to ‘jooj’ up a minimal outfit is red. It’s an obviously super loud color and for that reason, it creates a fun juxtaposition from the black and gray outfits I tend to wear.

Another trend that’s having a bit of a moment right now are mules. The best part about these white mules is how comfortable they are. The heel is just small enough that they’re not a burden to wear in the slightest. I really love the color white in just about every way from clothes and accessories to interiors and flowers. I think maybe it has something to do with my love for Scandinavian design. And for that reason, these mules feel right at home. Here’s to spring and more sunshine!
