Oh hello there! I’m back with what feels like a long overdue beauty update. It’s been ages since I’ve posted about beauty on here. No bueno. But it feels good to be back and chatting to you about my current casual makeup look. I’ve been keeping things on the simpler side lately and it’s been very refreshing. Oh yes, a good ole’ 10 minute makeup look has been my jam lately. Because to be honest, a casual makeup look is all I really have time for nowadays. I’d rather spend my time outside enjoying the beach, pool, park. etc. etc. Let’s get to it.
For my base, I’ve been using the L’Oréal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation in N3.5. I can’t even tell you how much I love this drugstore foundation especially when I’m on the go. I’ve been using it on and off for about a few months now. What a gem. The formula is lightweight with build-able coverage and has pretty decent lasting power. It looks really natural on the skin and gives it a healthy glow. The best part – application doesn’t require the use of any brush. Just press the pad into the sponge-like foundation and then onto your face. Just FYI, if you prefer a heavier coverage foundation, you probably won’t like this one.
Conceal & Powder
Onto the beauty product I can’t live without – concealer. I picked up the Glossier Stretch Concealer in medium on a weekend visit to Glossier HQ in Chinatown with some friends about a month ago. And I’ve used it everyday since. Why? Because it’s creamy, soft and gives the skin under my eyes a dewy finish. While it may not cover your dark circles as well as some heavier concealers, it definitely does brighten up the area for noticeable improvements. I either use my fingers or a beauty blender to gently dab into the skin. Due to the creaminess of the product, I recommend setting the concealer in place with some powder. I use Hourglass Ambient Lighting Power in Dim Light for a natural, all-over healthy glow.
Bronzer & Blush
Given that summer is the season to aim for that bronzed goddess look, bronzer is a very important step in my makeup routine. I’ve been adding warmth to the skin with the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in medium. Not only do I just love the scent (cocoa deliciousness), but the shade is perfect for contouring. It’s also great for building up coverage depending on how bronzed you’re looking to go. Bronzer application is followed with a pop of the Hourglass Ethereal Glow Ambient Lighting Blush on the apples of my cheeks for a soft and subtle wash of color. It’s perfect for the casual, quick makeup look days.
Brows & Eyes
My brows are sorted with a few touch-ups thanks to Glossier Boy Brow, which is probably the best brow product I’ve ever used. The consistency is unlike most products on the market because it’s like a cross between a gel and a pomade. It gets the job done by filling in any sparse areas while also giving the appearance of “fluffy” brows, which is what I aim for! Then, I’ll quickly scribble the Laura Geller Eye Dew Cream Shadow Crayon in Amber all over my lids and blend, blend away. I find this particular shade to be a great everyday color for brown eyes. Finally I go in with Benefit Roller Lash – the only mascara I can confidently use without the help of my eyelash curler.
Lip-wise, I’ve been using NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cairo. The nude train is my favorite one to be on if I’m honest. This shade is a very light nude with a touch of pink that applies smooth and velvety. Def do make sure your lips are moisturized beforehand as it can be a bit drying. I love it anyway, though.
And that’s all I got for you! Until next time… Xx
